Mostar Sevdah Reunion
The MSR is a musical group quite unique in its genre, made up of artists from Mostar who all share one great passion: the Sevdah (from the Turkish “sevdah”: love), the traditional Bosnia Herzegovina music, characterized by melancholic and emotional forms of expression, and which is often centred around tales of unhappy love. The story of this group began in 1993 and since then, even though it has passed some difficult moments, the MSR has carried on its aim of spreading this exciting form of music around the world. In 1998, their first CD, recorded in Mostar, came out, which decreed immediately their international success. The different musical backgrounds and the individual virtuosity of the various members of the group allow this band to always guarantee unique performances. The latest MSR collaboration with Saban Bajramovic and Ljiljana Buttler, considered the mother of Gypsy soul music, has once again demonstrated the fascinating and deep variety of Balkan music.
