Mostar World Music Centre

This centre, which has been active in the management of concerts and musical events for quite some time, organized the first edition of the World Music Festival in 2007 (6th– 8th September), conceived as a meeting between different cultures and peoples. It was an extremely important event that saw the participation of both national and international musicians. The programme was characterized by workshops for children and adults, and by the chance for tasting traditional wine & food and musical ‘flavours’ of Bosnia-Herzegovina. Theatre, films about world music and a film festival to promote Bosnia-Herzegovina, were all part of this exciting event giving its visitors another reason for getting to know the fresh and multicultural vitality of Mostar.

Cultural Centre Okc-Abrasevič

This cultural centre has been active for more than seventy years. After having been closed for almost ten years, it came back to life in 2003 thanks to a network of non-government, youth associations which were created around the MIF (Mostar Intercultural Festival). This is a summer event that, for the last eleven years, has tried to find a new way of promoting culture, based on exchange, confrontation and the mixture of cultures. More than 2000 artists from all over Europe have contributed in the course of these years to the MIF success, using all means of communication and expression, such as cinema, videos, theatre, exhibitions, concerts and many others. During the Festival, the whole city becomes an open stage for concerts, shows and exhibitions where everybody, children and adults alike, allow themselves to get involved in the sounds, images, colours and gaiety of the moment. Therefore, it is really a unique experience to go to Mostar during the MIF.
